If you have ever admired watching TV and movie stars sashay down the red carpet and you love hearing about which designers they are wearing, you might be able to wear similar looks too. Many designers recycle vintage clothes, or parts of them, in their designs. For a style or outfit that you really want to copy, scrounge through thrift shops and second-hand clothing stores. You may be surprised to find the old outfit pieces you need. For example, take the collar off a 70's shirt, combined with a jumpsuit from the early 80's and a plunging neckline from the 50's, and viola, you have the jumpsuit style that some stars wore quite recently. To get your copy nearly perfect, you may have to look long and hard for specific clothing pieces that have colors, patterns, prints and pieces of the whole outfit you are trying to copy. If you cannot find the pieces so that you can pull things apart and reassemble them into the new outfit, you may be able to use similar pieces as cloth patterns and sew the missing components.
Sewing a Designer Copy
If you have some sewing skills and a sewing machine, you can always sew replicas of your famous designer outifts. You can either use parts of vintage and recycled clothing to create cloth patterns or you can combine numerous paper patterns from a fabric store to create your outfit. As for the exact color or print, colors are easier to match, while matching the print may be more difficult. Because you are not trying to perfectly reproduce the outfit the designer made and the star wore, you can use a pattern as close to the designer original as you can find. Patterns only cost a few dollars, and unless you buy a really luxurious and expensive fabric, your designer replica will never come close to the purchase price of the original.
Accessorizing with Costume Jewelry
There are many costume jewelry shops that sell copycats of designer jewelry. The differences are that the costume jewelry will not empty your bank account and the stones are probably fake/ paste.
